Lira City, Uganda – Minister Dr. Ruth Jane Aceng has distributed 98 million shillings to residents of Ojwina as part of her initiative to combat poverty in her constituency.
The Minister has been saving her constituency funds and allowances provided to members of parliament for the past two years and five months, and she is now using these resources to help her constituents recover from the economic impact of COVID-19.
The recipients, who are part of various groups, were encouraged to use the money for business purposes to fight poverty in Lira City.
Dr. Aceng also highlighted that the government has initiated several projects to benefit the people, including PDM, Emyoga, YLP, UWEP, and a new project called “GROW project.” She urged the locals to embrace these projects and use the funds she distributed to grow their businesses, especially the PDM funds.
Lira City Mayor Sam Atul commended Dr. Aceng’s contributions and urged those engaging in political propaganda to allow her to continue her work. He stated that more initiatives are in the pipeline for the people of Lira City.
Owera Alex, a member of Dr. Jane Aceng’s campaign team, requested the people of Lira City to continue supporting the Minister as more programs are on the way to benefit the city’s residents.
Honorable Jena Opoplot, the PRO of Minister Aceng, assured the people of Adyel, Iwal, Ngeta, and Railways areas that they would receive financial support after Uhuru Day celebrations as part of Minister Aceng’s pledge.
Dr. Ocean Laury Laurence of Lira University, one of Aceng Ocero’s campaign managers, refuted allegations that Dr. Jane had removed him from her team. He emphasized that he remains part of Dr. Jane Aceng’s campaign team.
Minister Aceng is set to distribute a total of 358 million shillings, with each group receiving 500,000 shillings.
