Amolatar, Uganda – The Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Dr. Kenneth Omona Olusegun, has commissioned and handed over the keys to Nalubwoyo Health Centre III to the Chairman LCV of Amolatar District and the staff of the health facility on Friday, April 5th, 2024, at the health premises.
The project cost one billion 41 million shillings, according to the UPDF site engineer, Lt. Thembo Asanairi Bituaura.
The LCV Chairman of Amolatar District, Hon. Ocen Geoffrey Kiring, congratulated H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for constructing Nalubwoyo Health Centre III and added that if possible, he should continue to do more for the people of Amolatar, urging that Lt. Thembo should be retained in the district to construct yet another health facility called Akwon Health Centre III.
Kiring requested that Amolatar Health Centre IV be upgraded to the status of a District hospital because the distance measuring 150 kilometers from Amolatar to Lira Regional Referral Hospital in Lira City is too far.
He, however, wants the administration block, at a cost of 4 billion, completed before 2026 for better service delivery for his people.
Ocen notably requested that the homes of Col. James Odongo Oduka and the late Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Smith Opon Acak, in Amolatar, be reconstructed by the government of Uganda in memory of their commendable work.
In a related development, Minister Dr. Kenneth Omona Olusegun has officially handed over 150 iron sheets at Amolatar District headquarters to support the construction of Agwingiri Primary School located in Agwingiri sub-county, Amolatar District.
He was delegated by the Honorable Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabanja, who was committed.
The Woman MP of Amolatar District, Hon. Atim Apea Agness, said Amolatar is a hard-to-reach district and therefore the government of Uganda should always consider it a priority in government programs.
She said as Omona settles into his new office, he should remember Amolatar District at all times, adding that they will always approach his office for more assistance.
Omona was given several gifts by the Wanahinci of Nalubwoyo, including goats, chickens, among others.
Olobo James Dubai, the MP of Kyoga Constituency, really appreciated the President of the Republic of Uganda for appointing Omona as the minister in charge of Northern Uganda.
He said Minister Dr. Omona should be aware of the grievances of the local population about the fishing controversy between the UPDF and the Wanahinci in Amolatar District, especially those fishermen and those surrounding the Lake and the landing sites.
Hon. MP Okot Bitek Junior, during his speech before the minister, accused the police in Amolatar District of attempting to arrest him on Friday, a statement rubbished as baseless by one of the police officers in Amolatar who spoke on condition of anonymity to a section of the media.
He accused MP Bitek Junior of inciting the locals against the Minister’s convoy as he was heading to Nalubwoyo Health Centre III.
