The Minister of Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi, has disclosed that the government has already sent 50 million shillings to every parish in Uganda for the Parish Development Model (PDM) for this financial year.

Hon. Magyezi, addressing RDCs, CAOs, and district chairpersons at Speke Resort Munyonyo, confirmed that the remaining 50 million shillings for this financial year will be sent to all parishes before the end of this month.

He said that in the next financial year, which begins next month, the government will disburse another 100 million shillings for PDM, making it a total of 300 million shillings for every parish in Uganda.

The minister challenged the leaders to monitor the proper implementation of PDM in all parishes across the country so that the poorest of the poor can join the money economy. PDM is meant to cater to the 39 percent of the total population who are in extreme poverty.

A number of households have already received PDM funds in various parts of the country.
