In a bid to enhance the work of religious leaders in Ngariam County, Katakwi District, the Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), Hon. Peter Ogwang, has donated and handed over a brand new motorcycle to Rev. Charles Peter Okalany, the Parish Priest of Acanga Church of Uganda in Okore Sub-County.
The Bajaj motorcycle, Reg. No. UGG641N, was handed over today, witnessed by Rev. Apedu Julius, who represented Bishop Kosea Odongo of the Church of Uganda, Soroti Diocese. While handing over the bike, Jorem Obukui, the Chairperson of LC3s in Katakwi District, who represented the Minister, also gave Shs 4 million to the organizing committee for meals and the facilitation of church leaders.
During the annual prayers to remember the souls of those killed by Karamojong in Apeuru Aodot, the Minister, in his message, said he donated the motorcycle to facilitate the institutional work of the Church. Ogwang assured his constituents from Okore Sub-County about the upcoming construction of a memorial technical school in Okore in remembrance of those killed by the Karamojong.
The jubilant Christians of Ngariam County expressed their happiness to the Minister, noting that much has been done and advocating for continued support to the community. The LC3 Chairperson for Okore Sub-County, Charles Ikabat, said that the graves were built and fenced by the Minister and that the families of the victims received Shs 5 million each from the President through lobbying by Hon. Ogwang.
Rev. Apedu thanked the Minister for his love for the church and the majority of voters, urging Christians to stay connected to Hon. Ogwang to boost service delivery in Ngariam.
