MTN Uganda Rescues and Repairs Night Ampurire's Car

MTN Uganda has disclosed how Ms. Night Ampurire’s vehicle was located and completely restored without any charge. Recently, Ms. Night Ampurire shared that her pickup truck, which was a gift from MTN, was stolen by a mechanic.

Ampurire, who lives in Entebbe and sells fruit, received this truck from MTN last year after a story highlighted her delivering fruits to the Entebbe market in a rundown vehicle. Although MTN provided a truck, it broke down a few weeks later, and she was referred to a mechanic from Kampala to fix it.

The mechanic asked for 800,000 shillings for the repairs, but she only had 700,000 shillings in savings, which she paid. The mechanic then informed her that he needed to take the truck for a road test, but she did not see him again for two weeks, prompting her to reach out to the media.

Rumors began to circulate suggesting that MTN had wrongfully reclaimed the vehicle, a claim the telecommunications company denied. They even promised to assist her in locating the truck, which they successfully did. In a statement shared on their social media, they clarified that the truck had not been stolen.

The vehicle was recovered from the mechanic and subsequently taken to Nissan Motorcare for repairs. Nissan repaired the truck at no cost and returned it to Ms. Night Ampurire. MTN Uganda expressed their appreciation to Nissan for their efforts in ensuring the vehicle was fixed.
