Museveni and Kikwete Discuss East Africa

Former Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete engaged in discussions with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House Entebbe, focusing on regional cooperation and the prosperity of East African nations.

President Museveni welcomed Kikwete to Uganda, highlighting the importance of addressing market challenges to ensure the prosperity of East African people. He emphasized the necessity of strategic security within the East African Community (EAC) to safeguard the collective interests of member nations.




In reciprocation, Kikwete commended President Museveni for his steadfast dedication to the formation and advancement of the East African Community. He conveyed greetings from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him during his visit.




During their meeting, Kikwete discussed the significance of collaboration and partnership among East African nations, underscoring the mutual benefits of regional cooperation. He applauded the efforts made by President Museveni and other leaders in advancing the objectives of the East African Community.




Kikwete’s visit to Uganda coincided with his attendance as the chief guest at the Guild Leaders’ Annual Summit held at Makerere University. He acknowledged the significance of the summit, organized by guild presidents, as a platform for fostering dialogue and engagement among youth leaders from various institutions.
