Nebbi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Robert Abak, has warned a section of religious believers called “Mungu-Olony Con,” meaning “God is already rich,” of Kalowang Parish, Nebbi Sub-county, Nebbi District, to stop confusing people and sabotaging census progress in the area.
In an exclusive interview held this morning by The Ankole Times with the Nebbi RDC, he said he has instructed the Nebbi District Police Commander (DPC) to hunt the believers and arrest them immediately whenever sighted anywhere from their hideout.
“The people they are hiding have to be counted; therefore, it is illegal to hide people away from the enumerators, claiming that ‘God is already rich’ doesn’t have any link with counting people at all,” narrated RDC Abak.
He explained that the so-called believers get up in the morning and disappear to unknown locations with all their family members who are supposed to be counted by the government of Uganda during this ongoing census exercise,” wondered RDC Abak.
According to him, this barbaric kind of behavior will not be tolerated by his office because it has caused a lot of difficulty to the enumerators while performing their duties in Nebbi District. Abak added that so far there was a problem with the tabloid and has now been corrected, hence the enumerators are doing their work without any big challenge noticed so far.
In a related development, Abak urged everyone to get ready and be counted, since it matters to be counted. Mr. Abak continued that the tabloid is now stable and very effective.
