The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) conducted elections to select new leaders for its National Youth and Women Leagues. The elections, organized by the FDC Electoral Commission, took place at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi, with over 200 delegates participating.
In the election results, Francis Adepo emerged as the Chairperson of the National Youth League, with Phiona Nakayenze representing the Eastern region as the Deputy Chairperson. The Vice Chairperson positions were awarded to Ibrahim Sserugga for the Central region, George Onzima for the Northern region, and Amos Bacwa for Western Uganda.
The following individuals were also elected to various positions within the Youth and Women Leagues:

General Secretary | Mary Gorrety Atemo |
Secretary for Mobilization | Andrew Ssebitosi |

Secretary for Research and Publicity | Patricia Elubu Ayoo |
Secretary for Legal, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs | Catherine Adiro Okot |
Secretary for Education, Sports, and Students | Derrick Mugabo |
Head of Women’s Youth League | Nansubuga Shamim |
Secretary for Health and Environment | Timothy Muganzi |
Brian Okori was disqualified from the race for the position of General Secretary, as he was not a delegate according to the guidelines set by the party Electoral Commission. Despite his nomination by the party Electoral Commission weeks earlier, it was determined that he did not meet the eligibility criteria.
The guidelines established by the party Electoral Commission outlined that eligible delegates for voting included District Youth Chairpersons, District Youth Vice Chairpersons, 20 Institutional Chairpersons, and current Youth Executive leaders. Boniface Bamwenda Toterebuka, the Chairperson of the party Electoral Commission, made the decision to disqualify Okori based on his ineligibility.
The FDC also conducted elections for the Women’s League, where Agnes Kisakye was elected as the Chairperson, defeating her sole contender, Hellen Achan.
The newly elected leaders of the Women’s League are:
Position | Elected Leader |
---|---|
Vice Chairperson for Eastern | Juliet Agnes Kadama |

Vice Chairperson for Northern | Florence Akia Alupu |
Vice Chairperson for Western | Beatrice Kabasiita Adyeri |
General Secretary | Oliver Nairuba |

Secretary for Legal, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs | Janet Oroma |

These elections followed the delegates conference held by the FDC Najjanankumbi faction on October 6th at Patidar Samaj Sports Ground in Kampala, where a National Executive Committee (NEC) was elected. The newly elected leaders for both the Youth and Women Leagues will serve in their positions for a five-year term, ending in 2028.
In addition, another FDC group based at Katonga is planning to hold elections for the NEC and National League Committees in 2024. This group emerged following allegations that the Najjanankumbi-FDC faction, led by Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the party president, and Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary-General, had received funds from President Yoweri Museveni to compromise the party.
