KAMPALA – The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced a critical final phase of roadworks on the busy Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road, which will require a full nighttime closure from Monday, 15th September, through Sunday, 21st September  2025.

The essential asphalting works are scheduled to take place each night between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM to minimize disruption to daytime traffic. The project spans sections within the Kawempe and Central Divisions.

In a public alert issued today, KCCA advised all motorists to exercise extreme caution and prepare for changes to their usual routes. Drivers are strongly urged to adhere to reduced speed limits, follow all posted diversion signage, and obey instructions from traffic police and flag personnel on site.

To ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the closure, KCCA and the Traffic Police have designated a network of alternative routes.

Motorists are encouraged to use:

  • Naalo Road
  • Kyadondo 1 and Kyadondo 2 Roads
  • Nanfubambi Road
  • Nakulabye Road
  • Kimera Road
  • George Serwadda Road

“KCCA acknowledges the inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement will cause and sincerely apologizes to the public and motorists for any disruption,” the statement read. The authority emphasized that this final surfacing is a key step in enhancing the road’s quality and longevity, contributing to a smoother and more efficient transport network for the city.

The works are a part of KCCA’s ongoing commitment to upgrading urban infrastructure for a more liveable Kampala.
