Speaker Anita Among delivered a heartfelt message at Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala. She urged Ugandans to think about the legacy they leave behind, emphasizing the importance of impact over personal achievements and possessions.

According to Among, a lasting legacy should not be solely based on material possessions but should also encompass values, principles, and the positive influence one has on others and the community. She shared these thoughts while paying tribute to the late 2nd FUFA Vice President, Darius Mugoye, during a funeral service.

Describing Mugoye as a devoted individual, Among highlighted his unwavering determination and remarkable achievements in the world of sports. Mugoye’s inspirational journey has motivated countless individuals to pursue their dreams. The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) announced Mugoye’s passing on November 7, 2023.

Mugoye, an executive member of FUFA, served as the body’s second Vice President under President Moses Magogo. He played a crucial role in the committee overseeing Uganda’s joint bid for co-hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). Mugoye also owned St. Mary’s Football Club, participating in the Kampala Regional League.

The news of Mugoye’s passing has led to an outpouring of grief on social media. Football enthusiasts, both retired and current Uganda Cranes players, football administrators, and clubs have expressed their condolences, sharing fond memories of the deceased.
