A family dispute has ignited over the burial place for Henry Katanga, a 61-year-old businessman who was fatally shot at his residence in Mbuya, Kampala, on a fateful Thursday morning. The alleged shooter is reported to be his wife, Molly Katanga, following a domestic quarrel.

The devastating incident has not only claimed a life but also torn the couple’s families apart. Henry Katanga’s mother, Milielly Kyobuhooro Katanga, is advocating for her son’s final resting place to be his ancestral home in Kariro, Rubindi, Kashari, Mbarara District. However, Molly Katanga, the widow, insists on having her husband buried at their country home in Rwanda, Orerwa, Kikatsi in Kiruhura District.

In response to this conflict, Kyobuhooro has managed to secure an interim order from the Family Division of Kampala High Court, effectively preventing Molly’s family members from carrying out the burial in Kiruhura District.

The dispute takes on an even more heartbreaking dimension as just last week, the couple joyously gave their daughter away in marriage at a vibrant wedding held at Mestil Hotel. Tragically, this family celebration quickly turned into a nightmare.

On that fateful day, Henry Katanga spent the night socializing with friends before returning to his residence during the early hours of Thursday. Upon arrival, a heated exchange of words erupted between him and Molly within the confines of their bedroom.

As per police records, their daughter, Tricia Katanga, overheard the quarrel between her parents. Moments later, a deafening gunshot rang out from their bedroom.

Tricia hurried to her parents’ bedroom to discover a gruesome scene: Henry Katanga, blood flowing from a gunshot wound to his head, leaning on the bed, and her mother unconscious on the floor, a victim of her own actions, it seemed.

In the wake of this horrifying incident, Molly was swiftly taken to the International Hospital Kampala (IHK) in Namuwongo for medical treatment. The presence of a CZ99 Compact pistol, bearing the serial number UG 16222 00061, was discovered at the scene, adding another layer of complexity to this tragic tale.

Furthermore, police apprehended some of the family members who were present in the home at the time of the incident, adding a legal dimension to this already distressing situation.
