Dr. Tom Okurut, the former executive director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), has passed away. Dr. Okurut’s death occurred on Sunday afternoon at Platinum Hospital, Nakasero, Kampala.
During his tenure, Dr. Okurut served as the executive director of NEMA from 2011, leading the agency’s efforts in environmental conservation and management. However, he left his position after completing his two-year term. Following his departure, Dr. Barirega Akankwasa assumed the role of executive director, currently serving in that capacity.
