The Speaker of the National Parliament of Kenya, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetangula, has lost his mother, Anne Nanyama.
The Speaker’s mother passed away yesterday evening around 9:00 PM in Bungoma, Kenya, and will be laid to rest before the end of the year.
The Bamasaba people of both Kenya and Uganda are saddened by her passing.
His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, the Umukuka III of the Bamasaba people, offered prayers for strength to the family following the demise of the Speaker’s mother. The Umukuka acknowledged that a significant void has been left behind.
Hon. Irene Khainza Manghali, a long-time confidante of the Speaker of Kenya, expressed her deep sorrow over the passing of the deceased, whom she knew personally. However, she emphasized that Mrs. Nanyama had left behind a wonderful family.
Hon. Khainza stated that the Speaker’s mother had been ill for a long time and that the exceptional care provided by her children had extended her life until yesterday.
Earlier this year, the Governor of Bungoma also lost his mother.
Mrs. Anne Wetangula was married to Mzee Wetangula Senior, the father of the current Speaker of the Kenyan National Parliament.
The late Anne Nanyama died in her early 90s, according to Milcah, a press assistant to the Speaker of Kenya.
