As the Lango region mourns the passing of Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Atim Ogwal, it is further saddened by the loss of celebrated musician Benard Paul Munu, widely known as Bepee. The artiste was pronounced dead on Tuesday night following a tragic motorcycle crash on the Lira City-Odokomit Road.

Bepee’s elder brother, Ronald Apunyo, confirmed the tragic incident in a social media post on Wednesday morning, announcing that the musician died at midnight. The burial arrangements will be communicated later, according to the announcement.

Eyewitnesses reported that Bepee lost control of his motorcycle as he attempted to dodge a pedestrian who suddenly joined the road around 9:00 pm. He was rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital Intensive Care Unit, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

By press time, the body had been conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary. Maroz Atine, a fellow musician and close friend of Bepee, expressed that his demise is a significant blow to the music industry.

Bepee, who won the 2022 Northern Uganda Music Awards (NUMA) in the Hip-hop category, gained popularity with hits like “Par-Pira,” “Makmot,” “Nama Acel,” and “Amuge.”
