Tension ensued on Sunday when the vice chairperson LC1 of Odonga East village in Aliba sub-county, Mr. Ngako Sam, died mysteriously in his house. A postmortem could not be carried out due to the lack of any functional mortuary in Obongi district.

The deceased was last seen on Saturday night, healthy in Obongi town council, but mysteriously died under unclear circumstances.

On Sunday morning, when they went to call him for breakfast, he was only found to be dead, raising concern. The relatives wanted a postmortem conducted, but the management of Obongi Health Centre IV explained that they could not conduct a postmortem because they don’t have a functional mortuary.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), who went to the house of the deceased where the lifeless body was lying, was told that the family is supposed to raise money for the body to be taken to Moyo hospital and back, which they couldn’t afford. Sam Ngako (deceased now) was the vice chairperson LC1 of Odonga East village, and he was the representative of the elderly in the village council.
