Obongi Police OC CID Transferred Amid Charcoal Scandal Crackdown

Obongi, Uganda –  The RDC of Obongi has confirmed to the media that the Police OC CID of Obongi CPS has been transferred to Amuru district.

  1. D/ASP Isiko J. Balisanyuja has been transferred from Obongi to Amuru.
  2. D/ASP Akello Frances has been transferred from Amuru to Obongi, replacing Isiko.

D/ASP Isiko Balisanyuka, the OC CID Obongi, summoned the RDC and ARDC to Obongi CPS under SD Ref 168/2024.




On 31st July 2024, the RDC Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, and the ARDC, Umuhoza Habiba Furaha, broke a racket involving some police and technical staff suspected of being behind a secret, clandestine commercial charcoal scandal. Charcoal was being transported from Zoka forest in Adjumani using the Sinyanya-Obongi ferry.




The RDC’s office in Obongi impounded a truck (number UBE 112M) loaded with over 200 bags of charcoal. They handed it over to OC CID detective ASP Isiko Balisanyuka and physically counted the bags of charcoal at Obongi CPS as per the presidential directive.




Earlier, the Ankole Times reported about six suspects who escaped from a safe custody in a police cell during the festive season in Obongi CPS.

A section of wananchi thanked the police authority for such a wonderful transfer and are ready to welcome the new OC CID, Frances.
