Obongi, Uganda – The Woman MP of Obongi district, Hon. Maneno Zumura, has officially handed over 825 iron sheets to 82 residents of Dilokata Parish in Ewafa sub-county, Obongi district.
The iron sheets are worth thirty-four million six hundred and fifty thousand shillings (Shs34,650,000/=) under the decent housing project initiated by Hon. Maneno Zumura in Obongi district. The beneficiaries of the iron sheets thanked Hon. Maneno Zumura for the decent housing project and described her as the “real mother of Obongi” who cares for them to have a good life.
While handing over the iron sheets to the 82 Dilokata residents, Hon. Zumura Maneno appealed to her constituents to put the iron sheets to proper use by roofing their houses with these permanent roofing materials.
Hon. Zumura Maneno, who has so far given 3,000 iron sheets to her constituents, disclosed that her target is to ensure all parishes receive iron sheets by 2026.
She said she decided to start the decent housing project in Obongi district after realizing that her people were suffering due to the annual need to re-roof their houses with grass.

Under the decent housing project, the Obongi Woman MP has mobilized residents to contribute money. After which, she contributes by topping up over 50% of the funds they contribute, enabling them to benefit by getting iron sheets which they use to transform their grass-thatched houses into iron-roofed ones.
