Saturday, October 14, 2023

The Kira Road Division of the Kampala Metropolitan East Police is currently looking into a troubling case involving accusations of assault and the termination of pregnancy. This case came to light when a 19-year-old woman living in Kulambiro Jomayi, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, reported the incident.

According to the victim, the alleged incidents occurred between July and September 2023. She had been employed as a housemaid by Mr. Mohamed Mohsen, a 26-year-old Lebanese national and sales manager at Bipous Limited, residing in Bukoto, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.

The victim recounts that during her employment, she experienced sexual assault and was coerced into having an abortion. She stated that her employer, Mohamed Mohsen, called her into his room around 8:00 a.m. on multiple occasions, during which he initiated sexual advances. She felt unable to resist his advances due to her vulnerable situation and reliance on the job for her livelihood.

These alleged acts continued until September when the victim’s health began to deteriorate. At that point, the suspect took her to Victoria Hospital, where she was found to be pregnant. It is claimed that the suspect arranged for an abortion, which had significant adverse effects on her health.

In response to the matter, the Kira Road Division initiated an investigation, with Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirming the incident. The victim underwent a medical examination to confirm her condition and document her physical injuries.

Additionally, a statement from a witness who provided assistance to the victim after she left the suspect’s residence has been recorded. Mohamed Mohsen, the suspect, has been apprehended and cooperated with the police during interviews.

Owoyesigyire emphasized the commitment of the Kampala Metropolitan Police to conducting a thorough and fair investigation. As they continue their inquiries, they will provide updates through official communication channels, with a priority on ensuring justice is served and the rights and safety of all individuals are protected.
