Over 80 Hotel Managers Sensitized by Uganda Tourism Board in Lira

Patrick Okidi, Lira City – A one-day sensitization workshop for hotel owners on the grading and classification of hotels in the Lango sub-region took place on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Hotel Good News in Lira City. The workshop aimed to enhance quality standards in the hospitality sector, advocating for quality assurance, as highlighted by Angela Nalugo, Quality Assurance Officer at the Uganda Tourism Board.

More than 80 hotel managers participated in the training session. According to Angela, the classification and grading of accommodation facilities by the Uganda Tourism Board to meet the minimum standards of the East African Community costs 100,000 UGX.




Mr. Okello Ronald, a staff member of UTB attached to the Assurance Department, commended the participants for their large turnout. The manager of Double Deuz expressed that this workshop should serve as an eye-opener for all hotel managers in the Lango sub-region and Northern Uganda. He promised to improve the conditions of the rooms.




Dr. Okello Odyek, the Lira City Council Principal Commercial Officer, praised Angela and the Uganda Tourism Board for organizing such a beneficial sensitization meeting for hotel managers. He pledged to coordinate with the team to ensure that Lira and the Lango sub-region truly benefit from UTB services. He emphasized that the attendees should take a clear message regarding the registration and grading of their respective hotels by the Uganda Tourism Board.
