Leaders of the Oyam District local government have welcomed a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who officially assumed office this week on Tuesday.
Kitutu Fredrick Herbert was transferred from Namisindwa district to Oyam district, replacing Irima Walter, the outgoing CAO who has recently retired from service.
Irima Walter served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Oyam District local government for four and a half years, from June 2019 until his retirement in December 2023.
During the handover ceremony to Kitutu Fredrick Herbert, the new CAO, retired CAO Irima expressed appreciation to the local leaders and technical staff of Oyam District local government for the good teamwork they had during his tenure.
Walter Dilla Oyuku, the Chairperson LC 5 of Oyam District local government, emphasized the importance of good teamwork among political leaders and technical staff in collaboration with the new CAO.
Oyam District local government was established in 2006, separating from Apac District. Since its inception, nine Chief Administrative Officers have been posted, and Irima Walter holds the record for being the longest-serving CAO in the history of Oyam District since 2006.
