Oyam MP Santa Alum’s Vehicle Impounded Amid Dokolo Bye-Election Bribery Allegations

Dokolo, Uganda

ACP Chemonges Asiraf, the police boss in-charge of the Dokolo election, said, “MP Alum Santa Ogwang was arrested when she was caught distributing money at one of the sub-counties in Dokolo district. He added that she responded badly to the DPC, and this led to her arrest.

In a press briefing held at Dokolo CPS in the afternoon by UPC party secretary-general, Fred Ebil Ebil, and Ongom Chris, vice-chairman UPC Lango sub-region, all confirmed that they were told by the DPC herself that she wanted the vehicle searched.

The vehicle was then impounded in the CPS for almost an hour. He said the secretary-general came and witnessed the search warrant, which was developed; the party president, Jimmy Michael Akena, was also informed immediately, and he rushed to the CPS.

Ongom said in that car was Vicky Atim, the councilor of Loro, and Jennifer Opio. The two were not arrested but were all in the car of Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang monitoring votes at Amwoma.

On the other hand, Fred Ebil Ebil of UPC told the media that nothing was found in the car. One of the NRM bigwigs, who begged not to be named in The Ankole Times, said, ‘They want the case of suspected voter bribery to be investigated to a logical conclusion.'”
