Oyam Schools Report Low Turnout on First Day of Third Term

The third term of the 2023 academic year opened today, but many schools in Oyam district, both secondary and primary, reported low turnout of learners.

At Anyeke Primary School, only 145 pupils out of 1,794 reported. At Oyam Junior Primary School, only 299 pupils out of 567 reported. At Dr. Oryang SS Minakulu, only 8 students out of 450 reported in the morning. At Angolo Primary School, only 105 pupils out of 1,209 reported.

At Acaba Technical School, only 20 students out of 420 reported. However, at Loror Adigo Primary School, 127 pupils out of 1,240 reported.

David Aroma, the headteacher of Loror Adigo Primary School, attributes the low turnout to the mentality of both learners and parents that the first week is just for cleaning the school compound and that no proper lessons are conducted.
