Just one hour ago, a serious road accident occurred along the Gulu-Kampala highway in Minakulu Town Council, Oyam District, resulting in the death of one person.
The vehicle with registration number Ug 0802/J, a double cabin, was heading to Kampala when it collided with and fatally injured Okello Aweno, a resident of Bunga village in Nwoya District. Mr. Aweno tragically died on the spot.
Celestino Omach, the Chairperson of LC-1 in Minakulu Trading Center, confirmed toThe Ankole Times that the vehicle was traveling at high speed, and the deceased was walking on the wrong side of the road.
At the time of compiling this story, the deceased’s body had been transported to Anyeke Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
Evarist Ayesiga, a traffic police officer in Oyam, confirmed the report but did not provide further details.
