The Ankole Times newspaper has learned through an interview with the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Pakwach that witch doctors or traditional herbalists operating in the district have been strongly cautioned about causing disunity and crimes within the community.

On November 30, 2023, a section of the District Security Committee chaired by RDC Paul Eseru interfaced and held a lengthy discussion with some of the highly-rated witch doctors of Pakwach District, also referred to as traditional herbalists, regarding the way forward for their work in the district.

According to RDC Paul Eseru, the main purpose of the meeting was to acquaint the witch doctors with security user interface protocols and to understand their mode of operations. The witch doctors were cautioned to refrain from weird acts that cause disunity, promote crime, and create insecurities in the community.

Eseru stated that they pledged to cooperate with the security forces to eliminate quack witch doctors extorting money from gullible people. They also requested a grace period of two weeks to submit all their operating licenses.
