Equity Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr. James Mwangi, has paid a courtesy visit to Noah’s Ark Children’s Ministry Uganda in Mukono, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children and strengthening communities.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Mwangi said Equity’s mission goes beyond financial services to partnering with people and institutions that create lasting social impact.
“At Equity, our purpose goes beyond banking. We partner with people and communities to unlock dignity, opportunity, and lasting impact. Institutions like Noah’s Ark are transforming lives, and we are proud to walk this journey with them,” Dr. Mwangi said.
Founded in 1999, Noah’s Ark Children’s Ministry Uganda supports more than 190 vulnerable children. The organisation also educates over 350 learners through its nursery, primary, secondary, and vocational schools. In addition, it serves surrounding communities through healthcare, rehabilitation, and livelihood programmes aimed at improving household incomes and wellbeing.
Dr. Mwangi was accompanied by Equity Bank Uganda Managing Director Gift Shoko, Equity Group Foundation Director of Operations Dr. Joanne Korir, and other Equity executives.
Gift Shoko commended the ministry’s holistic approach to child development, noting that it aligns with Equity’s vision of transforming lives and livelihoods across the region.
“When you invest in a child, you invest in the future of a nation. We are committed to supporting initiatives that give young people a fair chance to succeed,” Shoko said.
Through the Equity Leaders Program (ELP), established in 1998, the bank continues to empower academically gifted youth by providing access to higher education and leadership development opportunities. To date, the programme has supported 10,505 university scholars from Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda.
Equity officials said partnerships with community organisations remain central to advancing socio-economic prosperity, especially for children and young people facing vulnerability.
“Together with our partners, we will continue uplifting communities and expanding opportunities for the next generation,” Dr. Mwangi added.
