The clash, fueled by contested ownership claims, left one dead – Paddy Sserunjogi, better known as Sobi, whose notorious criminal past casts a complex shadow over the incident.
According to SP Majid Karim, spokesperson for the Katonga Regional Police, around 50 people armed with machetes, spears, and sticks descended upon a disputed plot of land belonging to Kalisa.
This land, however, claims surfaced stating Kalisa had purchased it from the wrong owner. Deborah Nagadiya and Kiwewa Barton, acting on behalf of the alleged rightful heirs, escalated the dispute by bringing occupants from Kampala Kisenyi to occupy the land.
The ensuing confrontation was brutal, leaving three injured – Katumba Gerald, Mateka Andrew, and Aliyu Dela. Sadly, Sobi was not spared, his body bearing the marks of the violence with wounds on his leg and neck. Gomba Police officers swiftly intervened to restore order, and Sobi’s body was transported to Gomba Hospital Mortuary for further investigation.
While the motives behind the attack remain shrouded in the fog of the land dispute, Sobi’s death adds a layer of chilling intrigue to the investigation. As police delve deeper, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the events that led to this tragic clash and the fate of the contested land.
