Rubanda Youth Family and Development Organization, an NGO operating in Rubanda district, has expressed concern about some leaders who are actively undermining their efforts to combat poverty in communities.
This was revealed by Mukombozi Johnson, the general manager of Rubanda Youth Family and Development Organization, during a meeting with parish guides, sub-county and town council coordinators, and the executive. The meeting took place at Juna Amagara Hall, Kabirizi Trading Center, Rubanda Town Council.
Speaking to our reporter after the meeting, Mukombozi stated that it is unfortunate that, despite informing some leaders in the district, many of their members were prevented from carrying out their activities, including the registration of community members. He emphasized that the members had certificates to present in public.
Mukombozi also assured the public that the organization is fully registered in the district, and the government is aware of its existence, unlike other non-governmental organizations that come and disappear with people’s money.
Sabiti Ambrose, the Chief Executive Officer of Rubanda Youth Family and Development Organization, announced that the organization is committed to promoting poverty eradication through a six-point strategic plan. This plan includes a piggery production farm that commenced operations in August of this year, with 57 pigs already distributed in the community. Other initiatives involve a catering service center, a poultry production farm, a Babies Home to rehabilitate needy children with a nursery and primary section, a health center with an ambulance, and a vocational center to equip youths with different skills. The organization intends to achieve these goals through fundraising and support from well-wishers.
Medard Turanyomwe from the Technical Department advised members to embrace the program before involving the community.
Some members, including Akampurira Alex and Aharintuma Diana Nalongo, expressed that politicians negatively impacted their work despite having certificates. They attributed this to the actions of some organizations that came and disappeared after exploiting the community. Furthermore, they urged the executive to expedite the operationalization of the office in Rubanda for easier accessibility to the organization.
