On October 4, 2023, in preparation for the anticipated return of Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, from his tours in South Africa and Canada, seven supporters and leaders affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) were detained by police officers in Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council. The arrests were made as NUP members gathered and chanted party slogans at Abaita Ababiri along the Kampala-Entebbe highway in connection with the upcoming “One Million March to Entebbe” event.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, seven individuals have been taken into custody by the Entebbe police, led by OC Mr. Ivan Kareiga from the Entebbe Main Police Station.

These arrests come in the lead-up to the event, as security deployment in the area has been heightened. Joyce Nabatta, the leader of the Wakiso District NUP women’s forum, expressed that preparations to welcome Mr. Kyagulanyi are continuing despite these developments.
