The Managing Director of Q FM Radio,Ken Okello, has urged the youth to adopt new technologies instead of lamenting about unemployment. He advised young people in Northern Uganda to embrace the digital world if they want to find jobs quickly and succeed in life.
In an interview with The Ankole Times reporter on Wednesday morning, Okello pointed out that the world is rapidly becoming digital, with technology impacting all aspects of life. He mentioned that even sectors like ICT, agriculture, piggery, poultry keeping, and finding markets for goods have gone digital.
“It’s challenging to keep up with modern technology if you don’t evolve alongside the rest of the world,” Okello emphasized.
He then highlighted Radio Q FM’s successful track record. “Radio Q FM has been around for 12 years, making a positive impact on the youth in the Lango sub-region and Northern Uganda by entertaining, educating, and empowering them for self-reliance through employment opportunities.”
One anonymous staff member at Q FM shared his experience. “After saving for two years, I invested in a piggery project using online resources to find a market,” he said. “I’m grateful to Ken Okello for shaping me into a young person of integrity.”
Okello offered further advice to the youth: “Go digital and look for jobs online. Use your smartphone effectively for social media, and embrace the current way of life. Google for the latest updates, software, and apps that can help you gain exposure nationally and globally.”
“You might think you have nothing, but you have the potential to succeed. Create a good online presence, connect with friends, and build a network of bright people who can help you reach your goals,” he concluded.
