The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Hasaka Samuel Mpimbasa, has written to the UNRA Moyo Station Manager requesting immediate intervention on the impassable Obongi-Moyo road.
In his letter dated August 28, 2024, RDC Hasaka highlighted the road’s deteriorating condition due to recent floods and the lack of proper drainage. He expressed concern that the road has become impassable for most vehicles, including his official car, UG4137C.
To mitigate the risks associated with the deteriorating road, RDC Hasaka has requested that UNRA declare the Obongi-Moyo road a disaster and temporarily close it to prevent accidents and loss of life due to flooding. He has also attached a photo illustrating the road’s current state.
A copy of the letter has been sent to the Minister in charge of the Presidency, the Woman MP for Obongi, the Area MP for Obongi, the District Chairperson, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and the District Intelligence Officer (DISO) of Obongi.
Earlier, RDC Hasaka communicated with the UNRA regional manager, who assured him that a team would be sent to assess the road and plan for necessary repairs.
The Ankole Times attempted to contact the UNRA Moyo Station Manager for comment but was unsuccessful at the time of publication.
