Hon. Lagen David Atuka, Member of Parliament for Agago County

Agago County MP David Lagen Atuka has called on the youth in his constituency to take advantage of various government programs instead of engaging in criminal activities. Hon. Lagen emphasized the importance of initiatives like Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), urging young people to focus on these opportunities rather than resorting to theft and other crimes.

Lagen recounted an incident from two days ago when, returning from a peace meeting in Kotido around 2:00 AM, he and his team encountered some youths attempting to break into shops in one of Agago’s town councils. He stressed the need for the youth to avoid bad peer influences that could lead them into legal troubles.

Speaking to our reporter in Patongo town council, Lagen urged development partners to support youth by creating projects that benefit them collectively. He assured residents of the sub-counties of Adilang, Paimol, Lapono, Patongo, and Kotomor that Karamojong cattle rustlers would no longer pose a threat as long as he remains in leadership.

Lagen acknowledged the suffering of many people in Agago, particularly those in sub-counties bordering Karamoja, due to cattle rustling. He stressed that the district would no longer tolerate cattle thefts that have plagued both Agago and Kitgum districts.

The MP also commended Brigadier Faith Katungi, the 5th Division commander, for maintaining peace in Agago district.
