(Buikwe) – Police in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe district, have initiated investigations following the discovery of a decomposing body in a rented house. The body was identified as that of Hakim Kule, a resident of Nava Cell in Njeru division and an employee at Nytil Company Ltd.
The discovery was first made by children who were playing near Kule’s house. They became suspicious after noticing an unusual number of houseflies around the door and alerted the community elders. According to Ssalogo Med, also known as Jjaja Med, a concerned resident, the children’s curiosity led the elders to break the window to investigate further.
Upon opening the door, the residents found Kule’s lifeless body lying naked on the floor. The local community had last seen him four days prior, and his colleagues at Nytil had also noted his absence from work.
When the police arrived at the scene, they encountered difficulty opening the door, which had been locked from the inside. Officers, with assistance from the Nava Cell LC1 chairperson, Senyonga Madiru, were forced to break the door using an axe to gain entry.
The body was retrieved by the police and transported to Jinja Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Agnes Aucho, Kule’s former partner, revealed that they had separated five months earlier due to his excessive alcohol consumption. Kule’s ancestral home is in Kasese district. The investigation is ongoing, but no foul play has been confirmed as of yet.
Joshua Kwiringira, the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Njeru, emphasized the importance of community vigilance. He urged residents to regularly check on their neighbors, particularly in the case of unusual occurrences, and encouraged the adoption of the neighbourhood watch system to ensure safety and timely interventions.
