The rehabilitation of roads and bridges in Kikuube district faces delays due to a shortage of road equipment, district leaders report.

Despite plans to address the damage caused by heavy rains last year, the absence of necessary machinery hampers progress. Among the affected areas is the critical Kabwoya-Maya-Kyarujumba-Kakindo route connecting several sub-counties.

District Chairperson Peter Banura highlighted additional roads in poor condition, including Kinogozi-Kisenyo, Kiyora-Kyambara, and Kisaru-Kabwoya-Kyanga.

Limited government funds exacerbate the challenge, with only a portion of allocated funds received, further complicating efforts to hire necessary equipment. Despite repeated appeals to the Ministry of Works, the district awaits assistance.

Councillor Annette Asera emphasizes the impact on local communities’ access to essential services due to the deteriorating road conditions.
