Two court process servers, Mr. Michael Kaluusi and Mr. Richard Mwesigwa, have taken legal action against the Officer in Charge of C.I.D at Namutumba police station, Ms. Stella Nankunda, accusing her of ordering their unlawful confinement without justification.

In a lawsuit filed before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Iganga, Kaluusi and Mwesigwa allege that on December 14, 2023, they attempted to serve court documents on one Sulaina Logose, a defendant in civil suit No.46 of 2023 and a resident of Namutumba. During the process, they claim to have been assaulted by Logose, prompting them to report the incident to Namutumba police station.

According to court documents, upon their arrival at the station, Logose, accompanied by Ms. Nankunda, allegedly asserted control over the police and directed the confinement of the court servers without justification. Despite pleading with Nankunda to explain the grounds of their arrest, they were allegedly confined to a room at the police station under tight watch.

Represented by lawyer Mr. Steven Kalali, Kaluusi and Mwesigwa seek a declaration that Nankunda violated their rights, compensation of Shs40 million with interest, and other punitive measures against Nankunda, including her dismissal from the Uganda Police Force.
