A suspect named Henry Kigozi has been apprehended in connection with the theft of a transformer belonging to MEGGER Technical Services Ltd in a joint effort between authorities in the Ssezibwa region and the Kayunga Central Police Station.

The transformer in question was part of a project contracted by the Uganda Electricity Generation Co. Ltd (UEGCL) to install transformers and extend electricity lines to villages in the Nazigo sub-county.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga provided details during a media address held at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala. Enanga explained that Kigozi and his accomplices allegedly used a lorry truck registered under number UBD 237Q, along with a forklift, to disconnect the load and transport the transformer from Mataba village to Namutumba district. Once there, they purportedly sold it to the proprietors of a primary school.
