Two Arrested for Trying to Bribe Arua Police Officer

It was announced in a recent press release issued by the Territorial Police in West Nile Region and Arua Vuira CPS, that two suspects are currently in custody for attempting to bribe a police officer on duty at Arua Vurra CPS on April 14, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm. The arrested individuals are identified as Ajikia Annet, a 28-year-old resident of Nyio village, and Nyakuta Brian, a 22-year-old bodaboda rider also from Nyio village, Arua district.

According to the gathered facts, the suspects, along with accomplices, are implicated in the murder of their relative, Arijule Alido, and Onzima Innocent, as well as other clan members, on December 17, 2023. Following the murder, they reportedly set fire to the victim’s properties, demolished his house, and disposed of his body in a pit latrine. After fleeing to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), they returned upon learning of the transfer of the former OC CID, D/ASP Maloba Moses. Subsequently, they collected Ugx 2 million from other suspects and attempted to bribe the new OC CID, D/ASP Kalinaki Japhar, in order to secure the release of prime suspect Onzima Innocent, who had been apprehended on April 12, 2024.

The act of attempting to bribe a police officer to obstruct justice is a serious offense punishable by law, and individuals are advised against engaging in such illegal activities. Instead, individuals facing legal charges are encouraged to seek legal representation from defense attorneys to address their cases through proper legal channels.
