RUBANDA: Ruhija Sub-county Mourns Beloved Speaker Hon. Twinomugisha Bernad

RUBANDA, UGANDA – Thousands of mourners gathered on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Rwesanziro Village, Katojo Parish, Ruhija Sub-county, Rubanda West, to pay their last respects to Hon. Twinomugisha Bernad, the late Speaker of Ruhija Sub-county. He tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the Ruhija-Rutenga road.

The late Hon. Twinomugisha is remembered as a dedicated leader, loving husband, and devoted father of eight. His legacy as a servant-leader will live on, and his passing leaves a profound impact on the community he served.




During the funeral service, Rev. John Niwagaba, Parish Priest of Ruhija Church of Uganda, delivered a thought-provoking message. He highlighted pressing social issues, including domestic violence, commercial sex work, and witchcraft, calling for unity and preparedness for life after death.




In his address, Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba emphasized the importance of fulfilling pledges made during funerals.




He also warned against extortion during National ID registration, reminding the public that the forms are free and encouraging them to report any demands for payment.

Furthermore, he stressed the need for proper utilization of the Shs 2 billion Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) funds allocated to the district, with a significant portion going to Ruhija Sub-county and Town Council. Chairperson Kasyaba urged parents to consider Ruhija Seed School for their children’s education.

Earlier in the day, Chairperson Kasyaba had visited Ruhija Seed School and Bitanwa Primary School in Ruhija Sub-county, demonstrating his commitment to infrastructure development in the area.
