Rukiga, Uganda – The State Minister for Animal Industry, Hon. Bright Rwamirama, has called on Rukiga district residents to plant trees on barren hills to combat environmental degradation. He emphasized the crucial role of trees in providing shade, facilitating rainfall formation, and mitigating drought.
Rwamirama made these remarks today during the launch of the Kamwezi Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society in Rubandaga trading center, Kibanda parish, Kamwezi sub-county.
To further support the community, Rwamirama outlined a comprehensive approach that includes partnering with the Ministry of Water to ensure water connections and dam constructions for livestock during dry seasons. He also promoted the use of high-yield, drought-resistant seeds and animals, and advocated for electricity connections to power cooling machines for animal products. Additionally, he pledged to provide insemination kits to improve animal production.
Rukiga District Woman MP, Hon. Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, urged voters to unite and focus on community service rather than divisive politics of identity.
District leaders, Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere and Teddyson Niwagaba, highlighted the challenges of animal feed and water scarcity, and called for electricity connections and insemination kits.
RDC Zadoki Kamusiime listed ongoing presidential pledges, including road rehabilitation projects.
