Nakapiripirit, Uganda – Security personnel who were assigned to protect the two Karamoja ministers, Dr. Mary Goreti Kitutu and Agnes Nadutu, while in the region monitoring activists at Nabwin Zonal office and Namalu government prisons have castigated the two ministers, describing them as liars.

The personnel, who spoke on condition of anonymity fearing reprimand, told this publication that the two ministers, after concluding their activity safely, promised to send lunch for the personnel when they reached Kampala—an announcement that didn’t sit well with the personnel.

One of the soldiers said it’s now coming to two weeks, and what they were promised by the two ministers has never reached them, and they don’t intend to follow it up.

“The two ministers took our contacts, promising us facilitation, but up to now, nothing has come, and it’s not good to deceive,” he said.

It should be noted that two weeks ago, the two ministers, who are facing trial for the diversion of iron sheets meant for the reformed Karimojong warriors, stepped into Karamoja land for the first time since they were implicated.

However, while in the region, locals never bothered to give the two ministers any attention, as used to happen before they were implicated.

The two ministers were only with security personnel deployed to protect them from harm by the Karimojong community that had promised to deal with the two ministers should they dare to move to Karamoja without their stolen iron sheets.

Several attempts to reach Dr. Mary Goreti Kitutu, the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, to seek clarification on the matter were futile as her known phone was off.
