The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have successfully eliminated a key commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), along with the outfit’s medic known as ‘Dr’ Musa in a coordinated effort.

The operation resulted in the death of ‘Dr’ Musa during an encounter with a joint mobile squad forces unit under the 83rd battalion of the UPDF. The incident occurred at Mugulumugulu near Tokomeka, approximately 30 kilometers northwest of Kainama, on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Reportedly of Rwandan origin, ‘Dr’ Musa was operating closely with another notorious ADF commander named Muhammad Luminsa at the time of his demise.

According to Major Bilal Katamba, serving as the Public Information Officer for the UPDF Mountain Division/Operation Shujaa, the joint forces were able to recover one Sub Machine Gun (SMG) and one Radio (walkie-talkie) following the operation.

Major Katamba also disclosed that the ADF has escalated its efforts in planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Nevertheless, the joint forces are equipped with technical explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) teams to address and neutralize such threats effectively.

Undeterred by the challenges, the combined forces have maintained an aggressive pursuit of ADF remnants, scouring through their scattered hideouts across all four sectors of the operation area.
