The Muslim Community has received a call to unite in the fight against extremists and individuals aiming to tarnish the esteemed reputation of Islam, a religion renowned for its advocacy of peace for all humanity.

The call to action came from Colonel Sam Ntambirwe, the Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), on April 9, 2024. Colonel Ntambirwe delivered an array of donations from the UPDF to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at their headquarters in Old Kampala.

Expressing concern, Colonel Ntambirwe remarked, “It’s sad that there are some extremists and terrorists who want to come and hide under the cover of Islam and to portray the Muslim faith as hostile, threatening and dangerous.”

He lauded the efforts of Muslim leadership in propagating the President’s message of peace and unity as a viable solution to Uganda’s challenges.

In response to the gesture and the message conveyed, the Honorable Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Hajj Abbas Muluubya Sekyanzi, extended gratitude to the UPDF for their sacrificial efforts in ensuring peace and security for all Ugandans.
