LUUKA, Uganda — Residents of Luuka District were left in shock after a 50-year-old man reportedly collapsed and died while allegedly engaging in a sexual encounter in a bush in Bukooma Sub-County.

The deceased has been identified as Simon Kalamu, a resident of Namulanda B Village in Namulanda Parish, Bukooma Sub-County.

According to Busoga North Police spokesperson SP Samson Lubega, the tragic incident happened on the night of May 18 at around 9 p.m. Reports indicate that Kalamu was with a woman when he suddenly collapsed during what police described as the “second round.”

The woman is said to have immediately raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents who rushed to the scene. However, Kalamu was reportedly found unconscious and later confirmed dead.

Police officers later arrived at the scene and transported the body for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

The incident has since sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many Ugandans reacting humorously to the police statement, especially the phrase “second round.” Memes and jokes quickly flooded online platforms, with some users joking about “respecting age limits” while others sarcastically praised the deceased’s “determination.”

Despite the online humor, authorities have urged the public to take health seriously, especially men above 40 years old. Police noted that similar incidents have happened before, often linked to underlying health complications such as high blood pressure, heart-related illnesses, or physical exhaustion.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing as police await the postmortem results.

The incident has once again raised conversations about men’s health, regular medical checkups, and the risks associated with strenuous physical activity among older adults.
