The Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open, the largest ladies golf tournament at the Uganda Golf Club, is set to take place from October 5-7 at the Kitante course. This event serves as a precursor to the prestigious Uganda Ladies Open and has garnered the participation of female golfers from various countries, including Sweden, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Wendy Angudeyo, the lady captain of the Uganda Golf Club, explained, “As the host club for the Uganda Open Golf Championship this year, we decided to schedule our UGC Ladies Open closer to the main event. This allows ladies and golfers from across Uganda and beyond to participate in both ladies Opens. We anticipate around 210 or more golfers for this year’s edition.”
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Section event. Past winners include Irene Nakalembe in 2018 and Martha Babirye in 2019 and 2021. Last year’s champion was Peace Amooti Kabasweka, the Toro Club Lady Captain.
The event is sponsored by key partners, including NCBA, Pepsi Uganda, Emin Pasha Hotel, Fairway Hotel, Gorilla Heights Lodge, Case Medical Services, and Kinyara Sugar Works. Pepsi Uganda will provide refreshing beverages for golfers on and off the course, while Gorilla Heights Lodge offers accommodation and tours to the overall winners, including visits to the Bwindi Forests.
