Tragic and sad news has emerged indicating that Vipers SC’s Nigerian forward, Abubaker Lawal, has been involved in a fatal road accident. The Kitende-based club shared this information via a social media announcement.
They expressed their sorrow over the player’s passing, which occurred this morning, 24th February 2025. Though it has been reported that an accident led to his demise, Vipers stated that his body has been transported to a medical facility where a postmortem will be conducted.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved player, Abubakar Lawal, who left us this morning.
He’s body has been transferred to a medical facility for postmortem examination. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lawal’s family, club fans, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.

Apparently, the Abubaker Lawal joined the Venoms in 2022 from AS Kigali in Rwanda. He became a league champion with them in that same year. Many have described him as a very modest player.
Supporters, alongside fellow footballers and clubs in Uganda and East Africa, have come forward to convey their condolences.
