Deadly Collision Reported in Kamengo on Masaka Highway – Mpigi Traffic Police Update

The territorial traffic police in Mpigi reported a tragic incident last night, around 11:40 pm on April 17, 2024. The accident occurred in Kamengo at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp along the Masaka-Kampala highway. It involved two vehicles: M/V UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso and UBH 247L Subaru Forester. The Mitsubishi Fuso with registration number UAL 695U was traveling from Kampala to Masaka when it collided with the Subaru Forester, registered as UBH 247L, heading from Masaka to Kampala.

The collision resulted in the immediate death of three occupants in the Subaru Forester, including the driver. Additionally, one passenger in the same vehicle sustained critical injuries. The injured individual was promptly transported to Double Cure in Mpigi for urgent medical attention.




Following the tragic incident, the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Gombe hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations. The police authorities in Mpigi are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision to ascertain the cause and determine any contributing factors.




Such incidents underscore the importance of adhering to road safety regulations and exercising caution while driving, especially during nighttime travel.
