The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has undertaken a significant reshuffling and transfer process involving over 100 officers and rangers. The decision was reached during the 46th closed-door meeting held on December 28-29, 2024, at Protea Hotel in Entebbe Municipality, with the changes set to take effect from January 1, 2024.

Several other staff members, including those in law enforcement, tourism, assistant wardens, accounts clerks, drivers, and intelligence officers, have also been transferred. The directive, issued in a letter signed by Sam Mwandha, the UWA executive director, and Chemonges Sabilla, the deputy director in charge of legal and corporate affairs, instructed chief wardens to facilitate the smooth transition of the transferred personnel to their new assignments.
It remains unclear whether the reshuffle in the finance and accounts department is a response to previous financial mismanagement scandals within UWA or if it is part of a routine transfer process.
