The exchange rates on Friday, January 12, 2024, provide insight into the economic dynamics impacting the Ugandan Shilling (UGX).

The exchange rate between the Chinese Yuan (CNY) and the Ugandan Shilling stands at 529.49 UGX.  Meanwhile, the Kenyan Shilling (KES) exhibits a rate of 23.97 UGX, indicating a stronger exchange between Uganda and its East African neighbor.




The Euro (EUR) commands a higher exchange rate of 4161.31 UGX, reflecting the economic strength of the Eurozone.

In contrast, the exchange rate with Rwanda’s Franc (RWF) is notably lower at 2.94 UGX, highlighting the economic proximity and potential for regional partnerships. Similarly, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) shows a lower exchange rate of 1.38 UGX, indicating a potential for increased economic collaboration.

The South African Rand (ZAR) stands at 203.13 UGX.




The United States Dollar (USD) has an exchange rate of 3797.91 UGX, a significant figure that influences global trade and investment in Uganda. It’s crucial for businesses and policymakers to monitor and adapt to the fluctuations in this exchange rate.

The United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) is exchanged at a rate of 1034.15 UGX. This rate has implications for sectors such as tourism and international business.

The exchange rate with South Sudan’s Pound (SSP) is 3.5 UGX while the United Kingdom Pound (GBP) has an exchange rate of 4837.35 UGX, reflecting the economic ties with the UK.




Tanzania’s Shilling (TZS) has a lower exchange rate of 1.51 UGX and Nigeria’s Naira (NGN) stands at 4.06 UGX.
