Two Boda Boda Riders Killed in Separate Accidents Along Kabale–Kisoro Highway

Rubanda District – Police in Rubanda District have launched investigations into two separate road accidents that claimed the lives of two boda boda riders within a span of hours along the busy Kabale–Kisoro Highway.

The first accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at around 3:00 a.m. in Rwabinyindo Village, Rubanda Town Council. According to police, an unidentified male rider died instantly after allegedly losing control of his motorcycle before crashing into a eucalyptus tree by the roadside.

Residents who discovered the body alerted authorities, prompting police officers to visit the scene and commence investigations. The deceased’s body was later transferred to the mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital pending identification and postmortem examination.

In a separate incident, 28-year-old Tumwesigye Vianne, a resident of Mivune Village, lost his life on Monday evening after the motorcycle he was riding collided with the rear of an Isuzu bus at Hisensero Village in Muko Sub-county.

Preliminary police findings indicate that the rider may have been traveling at a high speed before the crash occurred. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed both incidents and said investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crashes.

The twin tragedies have once again raised concerns about road safety and speeding among boda boda riders operating along the Kabale–Kisoro Highway, one of the region’s busiest transport corridors. Authorities have urged motorists and motorcyclists to observe traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, and exercise caution while using the road.

Police have also appealed to road users to prioritize safety measures in order to reduce the growing number of fatal accidents on the region’s highways.
