Mr. Upender Singh Rawat, India’s High Commissioner in Uganda, recently engaged in discussions with Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs) in an effort to enhance bilateral relations and explore potential investment prospects.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters on April 26, served as a follow-up to the successful visit of an Indian business delegation to Kampala in mid-April. According to reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the objective of the visit was to foster commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, both parties participated in constructive discussions regarding ongoing and upcoming investment projects that have the potential to benefit both India and Uganda. High on the agenda were key sectors such as technology, energy, and infrastructure, where India expressed a keen interest in further collaboration.
Mr. Upender Singh Rawat, the Indian High Commissioner, reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Uganda and expanding cooperation in various sectors. He emphasized the importance of leveraging partnerships to drive innovation, create job opportunities, and enhance the overall socio-economic landscape of Uganda.
In response, Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its continued support and interest in Uganda’s economic growth and development. He underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in advancing the nation’s development agenda and fostering mutual prosperity.

The Indian High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s dedication to assisting Uganda in achieving its development goals and expressed eagerness for further engagements to solidify the partnership between the two nations.
