Uganda Baati and E-Trade Association Collaborate to Enhance E-Commerce Convenience

Uganda Baati, a prominent provider of building solutions, recently engaged in discussions with Ricky Rapa Thompson, President of the E-Trade and Startup Association of Uganda, and Ron Kawamara, Chairperson of the Board. The focus of these dialogues was to explore potential collaborations centered around e-commerce initiatives aimed at enhancing customer value and experience.

During the meeting, Macklean Kukundakwe, Uganda Baati’s Head of Marketing, emphasized the company’s pioneering role in integrating e-commerce within the steel sector. Kukundakwe highlighted the significance of ongoing engagements to drive innovation and streamline service and product delivery processes, ultimately benefiting customers.




“The steel sector is fiercely competitive, demanding proactive measures to address evolving customer needs and adapt to the changing industrial landscape,” stated Macklean, underlining the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of industry advancements.




Ricky Rapa, co-founder of SafeBoda and a prominent businessman, commended Uganda Baati for its proactive involvement in the E-Trade and Startup Association. He underscored the importance of collective representation of e-commerce startups and advocated for closer collaboration between policymakers and industry players to address market challenges effectively.




“We aim to foster a mutual learning environment by leveraging the expertise of established e-commerce startups through regular interactions, incubation programs, and collaborative innovation projects,” remarked Ian Rumanyika, Head of External and Corporate Affairs at Uganda Baati, highlighting the company’s commitment to leveraging its 60 years of service experience in Uganda.

Ron Kawamara emphasized the association’s role in providing a supportive platform for startup companies, facilitating knowledge exchange, skills development, and representation in engagements with various stakeholders. Notable startups under the association’s purview include Glovo, Tugende, Watu, and SafeBoda, among others.
